Lofts and Bonus Rooms by Husnik Homes, Incorporated
Loft Addition ~ Click on pics below for large versions
Ever wonder what to do with those tall open ceilings that have great
windows and bring in a lot of natural light? Well, this homeowner
decided to utilize those tall ceilings and add a loft. You will see
that by adding this valuable square footage it gave the home an entirely
different look plus gave them a multi-functional room.
The original stair railing had the wood railing and painted spindles
which really gave the home somewhat of a dated look. Now with the light
woodwork and the glass panels in the staircase the look is much more
open and contemporary feeling.
You will see that the loft has a very open feeling to it with the
windows and the glass panels that still allow you to see below. We
didn't need to do anything plumbing or heating wise but did add the
ceiling fan for air circulation. And what a great use of wall space
that they installed the large plasma TV where it doesn't take up any additional space.
As you can see we closed in the staircase and got rid of the old railing
that had the stained railing and the painted spindles. Now with the
glass panel in the stair railing, this has a much more clean and
contemporary feel to it. The glass panels also tie into the loft area
as well.
Before we started this loft project you will see that the fireplace
had an unfinished look to it. After we were done with the loft we added
that decorative moulding to the top of the fireplace - again, just to
tie it all together. A small detail with big impact.
